From BTEC to BA Hons & Bsc Hons…we have teamed up with Loughborough College to offer students a unique Football & Higher Education programme.
The programme is designed for our students to undertake degree-level courses in Scarborough while continuing their football development.
Students benefit from studying in Scarborough and with our link to Loughborough Sport, the University students will travel to Loughborough once a term in order to use the amazing facilities they have to offer. You can get hands-on learning with top-level sports industry equipment, as well as tap into the knowledge of university support staff and lecturers.
As well as the academic side University Scholars will also be part of the football programme and train 10 hours per week. The students will also have full access to the Everyone Active gym, our Sniper Fitness sessions and football rehab sessions with Leah Ager.
The course takes students through three different routes and three different levels. Students have the choice to study:
- Sports Coaching
- Sports Science
- Sports Business & Management
The below diagram illustrates what students can achieve.
The degree programme is accessible to anyone 18+ who has completed studies at college or for people interested in continuing their professional development in sport. Current applicants include students aged 18-35.
The course was originally set up by Loughborough College to target elite athletes who wanted to still be involved once their playing careers had finished. The ‘blended learning’ course allows students to study while they work or are involved in sport and allows the student to study at their own pace.
England Women’s current captain Steph Houghton is one of many professional athletes that have completed study with Loughborough College. The alumni also includes former England striker Darius Vassell and students currently studying at the college won a combined 18 medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
